Niederrhein

The lower-rhine area is the most northern region of Germany with a long border to The Netherlands in the west we belong to the disrict of Düsseldorf. Centerzones are Kreis Kleve, Kreis Wesel and Kreis Viersen as the city of Krefeld.
Charecteristics of the lower-rhine-region are its wide fields and green areas where rivers as Niers and Fleuth sidle through. Borderd by gnarled willow trees or a row of poplars riverblanks tempt the spectator to take a moment to unwind his soul and let his eyes wander.
Local gastronomy invites to try typical plates such as Krüstchen- crispy porc loin, Sülze- meat in a jelly or Panhas- rabbit.
The even countryside forms a perfect condition for cycling enthusiasts- extended bicycletours by following the wide net of routes are a MUST DO. Especially with regrad on the healthy effect of cycling and the combination of nature and holiday visitors often discover their own preference for this locally most famous leisure activity.
Famous tours are the „Herrensitzroute“ between Rhine and Maas and the „Nierswanderweg“- next to the Niers- passing some old castles like Schloss-Moyland with its interesting art collection of Hugo Beys amongst many others.
Neighborhood region Limburg in Holland is also very attractive for cyclists- for example small town Arcen with a well-trimmed Schlossgarten, a traditional market place in the center and a well know thermal SPA. During summer break every wednesday evening a „sfeermarket“ takes place, a fleamarket with different craftworks, arts and dutch specialities.
